Hey Gorgeous !

One thing people don’t discuss in building a personal brand is the amount of time, attention, and strategy it takes to actually stay true to who you are and keep showing up in what you do. 

This weekend I started to think about the value in NOW, why listening to yourself matters, and the value in having a vision and building something in the world you can be proud of . 

I know there are tons of articles on building a personal brand , but what I failed to see is what a lot of the experts discuss , the ” WHY” in all the showing up, pictures , posting , and building an audience.  After you make the content, after you post , after you build the course…..Now what? 

How does what you do really impact people , what are you doing besides the posting to serve your community? And how do you want to impact the world in what you’re doing ?

I know what you’re thinking…..

” Why should I be a personal brand? Why should it matter if I post, why does it matter to show up, it’s already tons of people doing what I’m doing! 

Ok …

Then, why haven’t you found them ? 

 Why aren’t you reading their content, and following the advice they are giving you ? 

Why do you want to speak and coach ? 

It’s because you haven’t found anyone to solve the inner problem, the spiritual problem , the creative problem, the leadership problem, make the sound you wanna make , the clothes you wanna wear, no one has created the movie you wanted to see , or given you the experience your heart is longing for.  

So…. 

Here comes you….

Mindset Makeover – ReImagining Yourself 

( Everything Is Perspective) 

The reason you should be a personal brand is because people know who to come to when they are facing the problem that you solve.  

They know you will speak a language they understand, they know you will care about how the garment looks on them when they walk down the aisle.  They know the cover of the magazine will sell when you create the cover , they know when they paid you to show up, that little girls will be inspired to go get an education no matter where they are at in life . 

Personal branding is the vehicle that helps people identify who you are, and your vision in being the place to experience what they need.  

If you think back to why someone inspired you , I’m sure you’ll recall a childhood moment where you never experienced someone do what they did … in the position they were in … whether it was the race, gender, religion, or an identity you connect to ..

That experience gave you an image that has forever changed how you see the world, that for most of us impacted our career or life desires. 

You’re solving a problem that you’re seen as a child, something you’re experienced as an adult , and what you would do differently as a leader. 

I think the real question is why aren’t you so sold out on knowing this is who you are , and getting down to creative ways for you to speak, create , and build something beyond yourself.

Story ( History, Beliefs, Community) :

With everyone talking about legacy on social media , I think the topic now becomes this . 

Who do you really want to help , looking at yourself from the lens of career . What would your job be everyday? Who would be in your classroom if you had to teach or talk to these people ?  Maybe you have to go to different places to teach. Where would you go now ? 

If you got sick or hurt , who would you leave the resources behind to keep the class going ? 

How does what you do help them in the future ? Or now ?  How do you see them daily or touch base with them? 

What field trips would you take them on? How often? How much would it cost ? 

Just thinking of all the questions I asked , you start to see why thinking of what you do matters because as a leader these are the conversations we think of when we want our content, our value, and brand to matter.

On top of the value you bring, the experience you hold , your expertise, your personality , and perspective  … This is why you are a quality product and not a cheap replica of a highly valued  brand.

Taking your time to know what you want and working on details of your vision is the key to achieving your goals and focusing on the now, the future, and not holding on to the past. 

Most of the time we focused on what we haven’t done yet , or who we used to be , opportunities we missed , and failed life endeavors in the past . 

We stay focused on how technology used to work , how we are lost in what’s happening now , and how we want to impact people we don’t want to be honest or transparent with.  

Even now as I write this , I wonder how I should’ve been doing this , should’ve been finished, should’ve been … etc..

This is the thought about our past. We are usually stuck in the story, or the way we perceive the situation.  

On Sunday  I caught a sermon from TD Jakes, ” Stop Handing In Limbo” ..

He stated how much anxiety we place on ourselves living in ” What If ” and how we make the situation our cave. Not dying in our past, and thinking BIG is the New small. 

This semon was timely with the movie we watched on Elevated view…

Now if you have never seen the movie before, please listen to today’s podcast , and check it out on HBO Max.  In the movie,  the name character keeps going back in time to change the outcome of his friends. He goes back to all these moments to ” fix” things to only make matters worse in different versions  of life. 

This is why telling your story,( and if you are revisiting the past ) , look at it as a puzzle piece in where you’re at now… not the final destination.

The Wipe Down ( Close of Mission, Story, Or Plan On How To Follow Up )

We all see quick and fast content comes down to our timeliness , new social media starts  popup up over night, but if you didn’t notice most don’t always stay. From burnt-out, to the Influence of society, business pressure, or industry crackdown. Speaking on topics they aren’t informative about, or building a team around them for hype. Your value as a personal brand , has to be looked at always from a business perspective.  

If you plan on being around, building something of value matters so it can stand the test of time. This is why focusing on your vision and a community focused on serving is what you have to turn your focus to. Focusing on the bigger picture allows you to see past your ego, your packaged marketed  image and see real people who want to change … just like you did . Whether someone helped you, or you built it on your own . We know how it would feel in either direction.  

How does  what affected you as a child connect to what you do as a career? 

What did you wish could be different? Who do you wish you had around ? What type of person could have come in if it wasn’t your parents? 

Would they be on TV, in a movie, or in a comic book? How would it look now ? On IG, Facebook or on a website?
